French is one of the Modern Foreign Languages taught at BRGS, and is compulsory in Year 8 and Year 9, depending on which form you are in. You can then choose whether to stick to your French or study German for two years at GCSE level.

French used to be taught by Mrs Greaves but is now taught by Mr Wyton, Miss Magill, Miss Wilkes, Miss O'Hara and Mr Godden.

The whole syllabus seemed to be included in 'Encore Tricolore' text books from which many a lesson would be read. Typical homework included writing an account of your holiday in French or translating a page from the textbook.

This has been phased out and replaced by The Metro series and homework is now worksheets from these books.
