Clizard is a bureaucrat! This means they can delete, move and protect pages and make other users Administrators. They can also ban users if necessary. But don't worry - Clizard doesn't bite! If you have noticed vandalism, want something doing or just want to learn about the wiki, don't hesitate to visit my talk page!

You've now spelt "Temporary" wrong!

You've spelt "Jurassic" wrong :p

Thanks a lot! :) Jonny 18:34, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Note to all sysops: The school IP has been blocked indefinately - DO NOT unblock it until all moderators have agreed. This is due to excessive vandalism. Please see SysopEdits for discussion.

(I've no idea how to do this :-))

Chris, can you get the following extensions installed?

Demotion

Hi, I want to ask if I can be demoted to just being a normal user. It's mainly because I don't agree with some of the things that've been going on lately. For example, why was this page deleted? It seems to be perfectly fine as a stub page to me. How are articles going to grow if we just delete them as soon as they're made? Also, I disagree when a moderator, who I would say should set an example, adds himself to the legends list. Erm...nice and modest and following the guidelines about discussing legends first there I don't think.

If you look at the last few days, from around the 12th to the 24th, I was the only moderator checking every single edit made, apart from the 19th where Chris came along. For example, check the block list - I'm the only one blocking adbots and unruly users. I don't really have enough time any more; so I'd be unlikely to be able to check every three or four days, let alone daily.

I realise that this comes across really negatively and everything, but I've quite enjoyed being a part of the whole wiki thing; however, lately I've just not really felt like coming on and checking everything. I've cleared up everything (e.g. changing my signature). Thanks in advance, Jonny (talk) 23:36, 27 April 2007 (BST) Lo. Just a thought, I seem to be unable to check the e-mail address for the wiki at the moment, they're blocking Outlook and all that here. Is there another way to log into it or can you keep an eye on it?

Chris

Dangerousx

I have been thinking about asking to become a moderator for a while now, and although I've only had an account in this site for around three weeks I have made hundreds of positive edits and I come onto this site almost every day to add information and make corrections. I have lots of spare time and I can use html if needed. If you and the other Bureaucrats will accept me I will be happy to become an administrator. If you do accept my request, is there any help, tips, guidelines etc that you could please give me. Thanks Dangerousx 23:47, 15 October 2010 (BST)

Please can we discuss the adminship of both Dangerousx and Camponhoyle (He asked on my talk page) on the notice board here. I've already started a topic. Any other help? Let me know! Thanks BRGSMan talk - contribs 20:28, 17 October 2010 (BST)

Content Usage

Hi Clizard, I recently came across the Android Wiki and found that it had been abandoned by it's bureaucrat/administrator. I've been creating the core stuff on the wiki while my Request for Adoption comes back from Wikia, and I was wondering if I could use some of the templates on BRGSWiki as base for templates on AndroidWiki? I would post a link back to BRGSWiki and give a big thank you to to BRGSWiki of course!! Thanks - 1885 ProjectsTalk PageSuggestionsUser PageFeedback

Yes, that reminds me that I need to look into our licensing issues, but yes is the simple answer. Clizard 23:49, 28 October 2010 (BST)

Thank you! 1885 ProjectsTalk PageSuggestionsUser PageFeedback

Love the new logo Clizard, think it's brilliant! Any other help? Let me know! Thanks BRGSMan talk - contribs 21:55, 31 October 2010 (GMT)

Images

Now that you have changed the benchmark for pictures to 50kb, my JPEGs are only just allowable (if you treat 50kb as maximum possible) and PNGs have got no chance! Don't you think we should have the page reverted back to say 150kb as a good benchmark. I still think this is small enough. Thanks, Dangerousx 18:10, 6 November 2010 (GMT)

Hi Dangerousx, I changed this because the 'maximum' is 150kb, whereas I expect images will usually be under 50kb for thumbnails and around 100kb for photos. I've updated the page to clarify this point. This is a guideline and not a hard limit. Most of our images are used purely as thumbnails for illustrative purposes, so 50kb seems a reasonable target. Some images, for example group class photos, may benefit from using a higher resolution and filesize, so can go beyond these limits.

These numbers are based on me being able to export an 800x600 jpg at high quality in around 110kb and my palaeontology image PNG (a very large thumbnail) being around 20kb. I've added a significant amount of slack here in the final maximum figure. Most, if not all, images on the wiki could be resized, compressed or reformatted and still convey the same information within the recommended filesize. The policy is due to our limited filespace, and our purpose not being a photo storage site (if it was we would store high resolution copies and the maximum would be around 12mb). Clizard

Dropdown tables

Hi,

Just thought I'd let you know that the dropdown tables (like the ones used on the Community Portal) are no longer working for me- it could be my setup or a sitewide thing. Any ideas? Thanks 1885 ProjectsTalk PageSuggestionsUser PageFeedback

I've noticed this too, will do some debugging shortly. Clizard

html/hacker

As you know, a hacker used html to vandalise hundreds of pages. This is why I think html should be reserved for developers and moderators. Everyone should still have access to the editing toolbar. Perhaps you can sort this out, or even better, just stop a few aspects of html which could pose as a threat. Thanks, Dangerousx 09:28, 30 November 2010 (GMT)

Just to clarify that this was a spambot and not a hacker; the main danger was an external link in wiki markup. Maybe there is a setting I can investigate to restrict these to autoconfirmed users, so I will have a look at doing this. HTML is enabled as a restricted subset by default (you can't directly create links either) so it's no more dangerous than wiki markup. Clizard

EULA/Statement

Did we get anywhere with these? Chris talk - mod 18:03, 30 November 2010 (GMT)

I don't think the statement is necessary for one incident; I think this has been resolved. I forgot about the EULA, I'll try and look at getting your page spliced into the signup during a spare hour. The existing bug reporting system is in itself unusably buggy, so I've abandoned that idea. Clizard

External links

Do we still need the external link template for acceptable sites on the list? Dangerousx 20:07, 6 December 2010 (GMT)

External links are created as they are now, but in the background as part of the rendering process the external link page link is added in if it's not approved. It should just appear for unapproved external links so that when someone previews (or after submitting) their edit, they can follow the link and add a request. In future it will hopefully handle the requests automatically. Clizard
