Tom "Certaxe" Mitchell
Biography
Tom joined the BRGS Sixth Form in 2002. He was a regular sight in the Lower Common Room, avoiding the taint of "upstairs" wherever possible. For the short time he was at BRGS he made a lasting impression on those he knew. He liked to be known as Certaxe (unknown reasons) for the first year or so - this later became Tom. Unfortunately he left halfway through Upper Sixth. However, he still came in to visit us, and even left us his school bag, still full of his work. To commemerate his leaving his bag was taken up onto the moors above Todmorden and burnt.
Likes and Dislikes
Tom liked the word "meh" very much so. It was used wherever possible and put across many different meanings, from confusion, agreement, disagreement, indecision, anger to pretty much anything. He wrote many songs, ranging from love songs to death metal tunes. He didn't like Vicky Dawson, in fact once telling her to go lick a crucifix in the hopes that she'd burst into flames. He would also avoid all lessons by Mr Ventress wherever possible.
Tom's Music Career
In LVIth form Tom made a demo CD, one of the tracks consisted purely of strange noises. This demo CD inevetably made its way to the CD player, for the entire common room to hear. Tom was asked what drugs he was on when the CD was made.
Tom & Sport
Tom was a good pool player, not through skill, but pure luck. A ball would be hit, bounce about the table a few times, then by some miracle be potted. He created a game known as Certaxe Pool, a variation on pool that was impossibly complicated, so much infact that only 5 complete games were ever played (one of the reasons being loss of balls during play). Along with Gareth Ashworth, Tom was one of the 'playtesters' for pin pool, a hybrid form of pool in pin-ball.
Tom & Politics
Tom once ran in the elections for Head Boy. His entire campaign rested on the slogan "Free spoons for all". Unfortunately he didn't win a place in office as other candidates were more popular and people seemed reluctant to vote for 'that weirdo from downstairs.'
Tom Now
Currently Tom is spending his time as an unemployed hippy, occasionally playing computer games. He is planning a future studying religion at college and university.
