Work Experience

Two weeks of year 10 spent supervising smaller children, or answering the telephone and making the tea.

Most students choose to find their own placements, however, for the minority who are either too lazy or no one wants them, they get an exciting lunch time visit to a computer room with Miss Robinson to choose a placement off the system. In previous years, the phenomenally disinterested Mrs Hollick had that honour.

Head of Years, Form tutors, Miss Robinson and a variety of other people warn of the dangers of staying behind and not going. No one really knows what happens to students who are 'left behind' and don't go on work experience, but it is rumoured that one such student stayed behind in 2003, and was never seen again.

However, the year 10 that went this year (2010) are quite depressed by the fact that many teachers are telling them they are all going to fail their GCSE's as due to work experience and snow, they missed nearly three weeks of term.

In a briefing for the 2007 intake for work experience they were informed that 3 people had died on last years work experience (not joking!).
