Mr Ali was a cover teacher and was, as teachers go, fairly cool.

Cover Lessons

Some forms had him for Technology quite a lot. He gave them "Chill Time" at the end of the lesson which usually involved talking about something completely irrelevant and not letting you chill at all.

  • At the end of one lesson he started talking about a healthy balanced diet and something to do with milk. He tells them that he used to drink a lot of milk as a child and asked if anyone else did. Gary puts his hand up and says "I drink about 2 and a half pints everyday, sir". Then Mr Ali starts going on about how unhealthy milk can be and then telling them about his kidney stones. The class really wanted to hear that, not.
  • Another lesson, this time an RS lesson, he starts asking about computer screens. He asks the whole class to stop working and tell him which kind of computer screen they would rather buy (points at two different kinds). Then he tells them why he was asking and that its for his own business, which leads into a full explanation of what he sells and stuff like that. This includes USB sticks, straight from china, USB lamps, USB fans and other stuff you can plug into a USB port, computer screens, laptops and other things like that. A lot of the class are fairly intrested by this point 'cause he'd said that everything was fairly cheep. This has taken up almost half the lesson by now. The interested people wanted to know what his company was called, but sir refused to tell them because it was illegal or something. For about the next month, half the class were asking him what his company was every single time they saw him! They never found out and some of them still wonder today.
  • He was once telling people that he would give them a detention if they carried on talking and then told the whole class what his kind of detentions involved. He said that he'd once given someone a detention for singing in class, and he'd made them sing all the way through the detention, while writing lines. He'd given someone a detention for messing around and said that they'd had to do some wierd kind of dancing while writing lines for half an hour. He said that after his detentions, the people didn't mess around again.

So, there you go, some of Mr Ali's wierd and wonderful ways.
