Orienteering is originally a Scandinavian sport with tall, slim, blonde and generally sexy looking participants. Mr Gray, Orienteering master of BRGS, Mr Gray, on the other hand is short, Scottish, grey haired, and in no way sexy. This image is the one that most BRGS students tend to associate with orienteering which is a shame as the real world of orienteering is devoid of Mr Gray and full of teenagers wearing transparent kit and training harder than any netballer Mrs Smith has ever had influence over.

The Current Crop

Consisting of 8 "hardcore orienteers" (HCOs) who are all current members of the Northwest Junior Squad, plus a few others ("softcore orienteers or "SCOs") who feel too harsh to turn Mr Gray down. The current crop are highly ranked (3rd overall secondary school 2006)and some have egos to match(Liam Taylor being of special notice).

The Revival

With the arrival of the new year 7s, Orienteering is coming back stronger than ever before! This may or may not be related to a certain Year 8's powers of persuasion....

To further boost popularity of Orienteering in BRGS, the BRGSOrienteers website is being revived, along with a Twitter account for Pendle Forest Orienteers!

Quotes

  • "Move your body round the map"
  • (cheesy sing-song) "I like, Orienteering, Orienteering.." - from a video shown to year 7 classes in previous years.
