The Course Essay

The prequel to the Personal Study.

Students are given two questions: one for each unit, at BRGS these are E and U: European History- War and Conflicts 1871-1914, British History from 1929 to 1951.

The Question for European History is usually taken first, and is usually about the Balkans. The student is given two weeks to prepare- by independent study- and produce a plan. The plan is subject to stringent criteria, and can be taken into the examination room. The student then uses the plan to create an essay answering the question in an hour and a half and no more than 3,000 words, though who they pay to count the words must get SO BORED

The Question for British History is usually taken after the European History Question, and is usually about Winston Churchill. Again the student is given two weeks to prepare and the same specifications apply as to the plan, time limit, and word count.

If ANYONE can actually remember sitting their European History one I'm impressed... I don't remember any of it- the question... sitting in the exam room... planning it... ANY OF IT
