Referral

Disciplinary measure used in the Sixth Form, which involves a multi-stage system leading to expulsion. You inch up the system by receiving referrals, and you must be persistently naughty to achieve the dizzying heights of the latter stages.

Evasion

Although a teacher issues the referral, as Mr Elkington frequently emphasises, "A referral doesn't come into effect until you have seen me about it." Theoretically, it is therefore possible to be as bad as you like so long as you can avoid Mr Elkington for the rest of your years at BRGS.
