The "Media Block" as it has been dubbed by the teachers (presumably until it is named like the Sixth Form Center and the Sports Hall) is a new building designed to eradicate all the prefabricated classrooms in one swoop. It is located behind the sports hall next to Booth Road. It was finished in 2011 and its completion was be welcomed by students and staff alike not only because its constuction has cut off a route around the school. It takes the number of Classrooms in the school over 100 and naturally, this being a building for the English department there was significant competition over who would have Room 101.
However, it seems that despite the intention of it replacing all of the school's temporary rooms, it would seem that the school's space problems have gotten even worse since its inception and as a result they will all be staying for the foreseeable future.
The building itself is a weird combination of cream walls, blue doors, drainpipes, railings and light brown wood panels that seem to only cover a third of the building with each row terminating in a random place, leading to further speculation the school ran out of money during its construction. The building seems to be similar to that of other schools and colleges in Lancashire, not only in appearance, but also in smell.
