Snow is a cause of immense havoc in the life of a BRGS student. Inevitably, school will be open, due to the staff being too stubborn to give into a few flakes of white stuff. By lunchtime however, when the whole valley has frozen over, students will be sent home, often on foot as all the buses stop running.

Millar Barn Lane is not seen as a priority route, so the roads around school are never gritted. This lead to the incident where a double-decker bus slid sideways down the road, avoiding children but unfortunately not a builders van. The road was closed for several hours while a handily-placed JCB and some builders were pressed into service to plough the road and remove the offending vehicle.
